Tsunami benefit CD available now!

Of Hands And Hearts
Not long ago, I suddenly found myself lending support to a project that has now seen the light of day. With the recent tsunami disaster that struck Southeast Asia, the company I work for sprung into action to put together a benefit CD (which also marks the startup of a new record label and distribution arm). In the initial stages, I submitted several of my own tracks for consideration ("Phases And Changes" and the Buddy track "She's Not Here" featuring Caroline Gomez's lead vocal - both songs about personal loss, of course). Then, I managed to conjure up some project support through a few personal connections including several established musicians and the internet DIY champion, Matthew Wayne Selznick. Matt helped get the word out, and I managed to get a couple artists ON to the collection (Eugene Edwards as well as Derek & the Dominos founder Bobby Whitlock (with his lovely partner Kim Carmel). My songs didn't get included, but that's ok. Room was made for names that would draw in more money for the cause at hand. My name, however, graces the credits for project assistance. Thanks to Stephen Schnee for taking a listen to my tunes... and let's get the word out on this one! The initial pressing is 10,000 units!
Integrity Records Press Release:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
9 AM PST, March 9, 2005

“Of Hands And Hearts”
Music For The Tsunami Disaster Fund
49 artists, 7 countries, 1 cause

Anaheim, CA., March 9, 2005: On March 22, 2005 Southern California based Integrity Records will release a specially priced two CD set to help the rebuilding efforts in Southeast Asia. All net proceeds will be donated to the humanitarian organization, CARE (
www.careusa.org).

Executive producer and musicologist Stephen Schnee got commitments from 75 artists to participate but had to choose just 49 due to space. Participating artists include Supersuckers, Dramarama, Annabella Lwin (Bow Wow Wow), Bang Sugar Bang, The Fixx, Dog Trumpet (Reg Mombassa and Peter O’Doherty of Mental As Anything), Adrian Belew, R Stevie Moore with Dave Gregory (XTC), Joanne Hogg (Iona) and Nick Beggs (Kajagoogoo), The Rubinoos, Kevin Gilbert, The Red Elvises, Wang Chung, Rosetta Stone (featuring Ian Mitchell of Bay City Rollers) and Kim Carmel & Bobby Whitlock (Derek & The Dominos).

Eighteen of these songs are previously unreleased with eight tracks making their American debut on this CD. “Every artist involved has donated their track to help the tsunami victims,” says Schnee. “This tragedy has had a profound affect on everyone, so we chose the best possible way to raise money, raise awareness and, hopefully, help ease the pain.”

“There is something here for everybody,” states Schnee, “From punk to world-beat and up-tempo guitar rock to moving piano ballads. But as musically diverse as these bands are, they are all figuratively singing the same song.”
The two CD set will carry a $13.98 suggested list price.
