MWS Media Radio Podcast (1/14/05)

MWS Media Radio
"Our 13th show is dedicated to a very special project from Norwalk Distributors: an upcoming CD entitled “Of Hands and Hearts,” sales of which will benefit tsunami relief efforts. Featured in the show: an interview with musician and Norwalk employee Dave Rayburn, with all the details of the project, plus a track from Dave and another from Eugene Edwards, taken from a 9-11 benefit Dave spearheaded."

Tonight's playlist featured the following:

A phone interview with Dave Rayburn, conducted by the show's host, Matthew Wayne Selznick
"Phases And Changes" (Rayburn) - Dave Rayburn
"I'd Like To Think So" (Edwards) - Eugene Edwards

Dave's phone interview was recorded on January 12, 2005, while the Rayburn solo track was recorded during August of 2004 in Long Beach, California with the help of producer Tony Dare. Also played this week was Eugene Edwards and his special version of "I'd Like To Think So" (also produced by Tony), which was written at Dave's request and included on the Buddies For America 9/11 benefit CD (produced by Dave) in 2001. Eugene later re-wrote a portion of the song and released a newly-recorded version on his debut CD, My Favorite Revolution, in 2004. Thanks again, Matt, for giving the benefit project some exposure! The Way That He Sings

The Way That He Sings: The Fans Sing My Morning Jacket
This may look like a cut-and-paste job (as I had already mentioned this project months ago), but it's finally here... and I'm here to let you know. The internet-only tribute album to My Morning Jacket has been released to the general public!
The Way That He Sings: The Fans Sing My Morning Jacket

"At Dawn" Corey Hannah
"O Is The One That Is Real" Jintro
"Bermuda Highway" Megan Hamilton
"Phone Went West" Buddy
"Evelyn Is Not Real" The Rockefellaz
"Lowdown" Hutch and the Hookers
"Tonite I Want to Celebrate With You" Megan Hamilton
"Just Because I Do" Corey Hannah
"Masterplan" The Stillhouse Downs
"At Dawn" Megan Hamilton
The idea was born back in July of 2004 in a fan newsgroup. Word quickly spread, and indie artists from all over the globe began work on their submissions. Buddy's live, non-reggae version of "Phone Went West" has been included (and actually clocks in as the longest track on the album... what are we, Pink Floyd?). As for the details... the Buddy track was recorded live at the Liquid Lounge in Long Beach, California on June 17th, 2003. That night was full of magic, as I remember it as one of the best Buddy shows to date. The soundboard recording was captured and mastered by fellow-P.I.T. member, Mark Mason. This track was previously available on A Party In The PIT and Best Buddies: Vol. 3 (both released on Some Buddy Records), but now it's gonna be heard by a wider audience (including Jim James - the songwriter).

A special 'thank you" goes out to Corey Hannah for taking the time to make a passion come to life. The collection sounds great! If all goes well, I'm hoping to have my solo version of "The Way That He Sings" included on the next volume. In the meantime, it's raining outside... better put on some Jacket.

Track Of The Day at GarageBand.com!

TRACK OF THE DAY!
"Phases And Changes" by Dave Rayburn has been chosen as the Folk Rock "Track Of The Day" at GarageBand.com! In preparation for a slight increase in web traffic, I've started to redesign buddyband.com to accomodate my present musical activities. More changes will be coming as free time permits. In the meantime, I'm hoping that my 24 hours in the spotlight at GB will result in a boost in the charts. If not... at least I had my 24 hours. In any case, you will continue to see changes at buddyband.com, so please keep coming back to see what I come up with.
